Dosan Park is a park and memorial dedicated to the life and achievements of independence activist An Chang-ho, who also went by the pen name Dosan. The park first opened in 1973 in Sinsadong. It covers 29,974 square meters (322,637 square feet).
Sights here include the Dosan An Changho Memorial Hall, the tomb of Dosan and his wife Helen (Hye Ryon Lee), multiple statues, and walking trails.
An Chang-ho was born on November 9, 1878 in South Pyongan Province, present day North Korea. He was known as Dosan, which was his pen name.
In October 1902, Dosan and his wife moved to San Francisco. While in San Francisco he bettered his education. In 1903 he founded the Friendship Society for Koreans living in the United States. He went on to become a leader in the Korean-American community.
In 1907, he returned to Korea. At this time, he helped found Shinminhoe (New People’s Association). This organization fought for the independence of Korea as Japan began their occupation of Korea.
Over the years, Dosan was arrested multiple times for his patriotism and for his participation in anti-Japanese activities. He called for the independence of Korea while promoting reforms in education and the modernization of educational facilities.
He was arrested one final time in 1937 and subsequently released due to poor health.
He was moved to Kyungsung University where he died at the age of 59 on March 10, 1938.

This was during the rule of King Wonseong of Silla. Its location was 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) southwest of its current location.
