Brew 3.14π is a small and friendly restaurant and bistro that specializes in handmade pizzas and calzones, local Korean craft beers, and cocktails. If you are craving something different than Korean BBQ and stews, then Brew 3.14π near Insadong could be just right for you.
The first thing you will notice when you walk inside is how small the restaurant is. This can sometimes be intimidating for first time visitors, but the great thing about Brew 3.14π is that the owner, Daniel, and the other workers, are all extremely friendly and speak fluent English. Daniel is also the owner of the popular Seoul food blog Seoul Eats.
The cozy interior had limited seating. During the warmer months, you can grab a seat at a table outside. For the best seat in the house, grab a seat at the bar. It is here where you can watch the chef do his magic. What you see in front of you is the kitchen. It was here where all the food was prepped and cooked.
If you arrive at the right time, you can watch all the balls of dough being prepared for the evening orders of pizza and calzones. The chef does it all. He took orders, prepared and cooked food, and served drinks all night long while being welcoming and striking up a conversation. He was one hard worker. You could tell that he loved what he was doing.
If you are hungry and want your own pizza, then give the personal cheese pizza (7,000 won, 1,000 more with meat) a try.
The pizza was house made and handmade by the chef himself. The pizza was rolled extremely thin but wide enough to be topped off with delicious red sauce, meat, and cheese. It may not be the thickest pizza I have ever had but it was large for a personal pizza.
You can taste the quality of the pizza, the sauce, and the toppings since they were handmade from scratch. The thin but crispy crust is perfect for those who want to leave some room for a few brews. Brew 3.14π makes a great pizza in a city where good pizza is hard to find.
If you are with a group or need a larger pie, then you might want to consider ordering the pizza supreme (15,000 won) with cheese, meat, and veggies.
Other than pizzas, you can order other tasty items including cheese calzones (6,000 won) with tomato sauce, cheese, and veggies. You can add meat for an extra 1,000 won. Also popular is the Korean Fried Chicken (15,000 won) and the cheesy and rich French Onion Soup (9,000 won).
Brew 3.14 offers a small but great variety of local craft beers made using Korean waters and hops. These brews include Namsan Pilsner, Jirisan ‘Moon Bear’ IPA, Brau Stout, and Brau Heferweizen.
They also offer wine, cocktails, shots, and shooters known as bombs. On cold nights they also have a delicious hot mulled wine.
If you are in the Insadong area and want something different to eat, and a few local brews, then Brew 3.14π is highly recommended. It’s one of those places that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in and makes you want to return.
